Hey. I’m Laura, but most people call me Pinky. I make wrestling gear—and I teach wrestlers how to make it too.

If you’ve stumbled across this blog, you’re probably one of three things:

1. A wrestler who wants gear that doesn’t suck,

2. A creative who loves wrestling and wants in on the process, or

3. A gear nerd like me who just needs to know how it's all put together.

Good news—you’re in the right place.

What Is Threadlock Takedown?

Threadlock Takedown is part gear shop, part sewing classroom, part indie-wrestling design journal. It’s where I share what I’ve learned from over a decade of designing, sewing, and troubleshooting gear for wrestlers at every level—beginners, indie icons, and names you've seen under the bright lights.

This blog exists because when I started out in 2012, there were no guides. No patterns. No how-to videos. No one was explaining how wrestling gear was actually made—so I had to figure it out myself. Now I’m here to make sure no one else has to start from scratch like I did.

What You’ll Find Here

This isn’t a blog about perfection. It’s a blog about gear that works. Gear that lasts. Gear that lets you step into the ring feeling like the main character—even if you stitched it together in your kitchen the night before a show.

Here’s what you can expect:

Free PDF patterns for gear accessories like kneepad covers, gauntlets, armbands, and more.

Step-by-step tutorials for beginners and experienced sewists alike.

“Get the Look” gear breakdowns where I reverse-engineer iconic wrestling outfits from WWE, AEW, TNA, NJPW, and the indie scene—plus how I’d recreate them today.

Tips for choosing stretch fabrics, working with spandex, and keeping your gear clean and show-ready.

Sewing-for-wrestlers education—because let’s face it, the ring is no place for poor construction.

Why It Matters

Wrestling gear is more than a costume. It’s part of the performance. It tells the story before the bell even rings.

And yet, it’s still a mystery for most wrestlers. Why? Because no one taught us.

That changes here.

Threadlock Takedown is about pulling back the curtain. Whether you’re making your own gear or buying it from someone like me, you deserve to understand how it’s built and why it works—or doesn’t.

This blog isn’t just about sewing. It’s about empowerment. It’s about helping wrestlers take control of their presentation, their creativity, and their confidence.

Who Am I?

I’m a gear maker who started in the dark and stitched her way to clarity. I’ve made hundreds of pieces for performers across the UK and beyond. I run a wrestling academy. I’ve sat through more gear malfunctions than I can count, and I’ve fixed most of them with a needle and some stubbornness.

Threadlock Takedown is the education-first evolution of my gear brand—built for wrestlers who want more from their look, and for the folks who want to learn how to make something weird that actually works.
